What Is Monel 400/ K500 Pipe Fittings?
Monel 400 is a copper nickel alloy with high strength and corrosion resistance in a range of acidic and alkaline environments. Monel is based on nickel (65-70%) and copper (20-29%) and also contains iron and manganese (5%) and other compounds.
In addition to the popular nickel-copper alloy Monel 400, Kingston Steel & Alloys also has many Monel K500 Pipe Fittings in stock. Monel K500 is an age-hardened version of Monel 400, meaning it has greater strength and resistance to corrosives, especially sea water. Monel K500 is ideal for use in machinery that is either submerged in the ocean or regularly exposed to sea water. Off-shore oil rigs, for instance, use Monel K500 for valve trimming and pump shafts.
